This term, our focus is on DIY Skills. Students will be introduced to a variety of practical and hands on activities designed to build their confidence and independence. Throughout the term, they will learn how to safely use tools, carry out basic decorating tasks, make simple repairs and complete everyday maintenance jobs. By developing these functional skills, students will gain valuable experience that extends beyond the classroom. These are essential life skills that will empower them to take on real-world challenges and become more self-sufficient.

In Maths this term, we will be focusing on measuring length and height, which ties in perfectly with our DIY Skills topic. Students will develop practical measuring skills, including how to measure accurately in centimetres and metres. They will also learn to compare and order different lengths and heights, helping them apply mathematical concepts in real-life, hands-on  situations.

This term, we are embedding English skills throughout our learning across all subjects. Students will be developing their reading, writing, speaking, and listening abilities through a variety of engaging activities, from following instructions and writing about their DIY projects, to discussing scientific observations and reflecting on events throughout the week.

Our Science topic this term is Physics, with a focus on light. Students will explore the fascinating world of light and how it helps us see the world around us. They will learn to identify different sources of light,  including both natural and artificial ones, and investigate how light travels. Key concepts will include understanding how we see objects, how shadows are formed when light is blocked, and the properties of materials—specifically transparent, translucent, and opaque surfaces. Through hands-on experiments and observations, students will develop a deeper understanding of how light behaves and interacts with the environment.

In PSHE this term, our focus will be on relationships. Students will explore the different types of relationships they may experience in their lives, including friendships, family relationships, and connections within the wider community. Through discussions and activities, they will learn about the importance of communication, empathy, respect and trust in building healthy and positive relationships.

In PE this term, Emperor Class will be focusing on two areas of physical development: volleyball and swimming. On Tuesdays, students will work with Charlene to learn and improve their volleyball skills. These sessions will cover the fundamentals of the game, including serving, passing, and teamwork. On Fridays, the class will travel to a local swimming pool for weekly swimming sessions. These sessions will help students build confidence in the water, and learn  important  water safety skills.

The Summer term promises to be lots of fun with new experiences and plenty of opportunities to learn, explore, and celebrate the final term of the school year.
