Peacock Class
Our topic this half term in Peacock Class is Minibeasts! We will be learning all about what a minibeast is, as well as the different types of minibeasts you might find and where different minibeasts might live.
During our off-site visits, we will go on some minibeast hunts trying to find as many as we can. We will be going to local supermarkets to buy our ingredients for cooking. We hope to also enjoy some time in the sunshine at local parks!
Our off-site physical activities this half term will be tennis and horse riding. Please ensure the children have named PE kits in school with them for tennis. For horse riding please ensure the children have jogging bottoms and wellies with them.
In English we will be having regular Phonics sessions to recap our sounds. We will be choosing individual books which use our phonics, to read with an adult each week. We will be reading lots of minibeast books including: ‘Superworm’, ‘The Bad Tempered Ladybird’, ‘The Big Bad Bug’ and ‘Norman the Slug with a Silly Shell’.
In maths we will be continuing the White Rose Scheme. We will be finishing our learning about addition and subtraction within 20 then focusing on the place value of numbers from 0-50. We will be counting in groups of 10 and learning about the value of 10’s and 1’s within a number.
For Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) our focus will be relationships. We will be thinking about relationships within our family and with our friends.
In ICT we will be learning digital painting skills and using the paint app on Windows as well as some apps on the iPad to use different brushes, colours and shapes.
The children in Peacock Class will continue to see Anusha for their Akademi Dance and learn how to express themselves through movement, as well as ball skills and volleyball in PE with Charlene on Friday afternoons.
We are looking forward to a fun filled half-term!
